Nam Nam Noodle Bar

Lunch in the raffles place vicinity is always insanely stressful. First, wherever you go there is always a long queue. Second, getting a table is another nightmare in itself. The colleagues and I decided to head to Raffles city instead, because what makes a better lunch break than shopping and good food?

We got there at about 11.45 and to our surprise there wasn't a queue outside Nam Nam so we decided to give it ago because it's often really packed and there must be some reason why people are willing to queue for close to 30 mins to eat here.

The restaurant is done up pretty nice, the use of wood makes it feel very homely and the open concept gives you the illusion of space, though the restaurant isn't exactly very big.

We decided on the lunch set, which seemed like a really good deal. Vietnamese spring rolls, a bowl of Pho and a drink, all for just $9.90! A meal at most restaurants in the basement of Raffles city was probably about $15-$20 on average so this seemed like a steal.

The spring rolls arrived really quickly, which was great because I was famished. Unfortunately, there was too much vermicelli in it and too little prawn. I guess that made the spring roll really dry but the light hint of mint and basil salvaged it a little. I gave up on it after awhile and stopped eating it.
We picked Iced lotus tea and I throughout the meal I took small sips cos it tasted rather bitter. Turns out my friend forgot to tell us to add the sugar syrup that was suppose to go with it. It did taste much better with the syrup, so if you're going to order a cup of lotus tea, please remember to add the sugar syrup!

The highlight of the meal was the beef pho. The soup was really tasty, excellent broth but somehow it did make me rather thirsty. The beef was also cooked pretty well. The pho had quite a decent consistency too.

All in all it was a decent meal at a very appealing price. Will definitely come back and try their other offerings. It's the perfect meal on a cold rainy day
